What is Unity?

Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path.

Core Beliefs

  • God (Spirit) is the Source and Creator of all. There is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere.
  • Our truest nature is divine and our potential is limitless. It is called by many names – we call it Christ-Consciousness.
  • We create our life experiences through our way of thinking, feeling and acting.
  • There is power in meditation and affirmative prayer. We use these tools to bring our awareness into alignment with the Christ-Consciousness.
  • Knowledge of these spiritual principles is the first step. We choose to live them. Unity is a way of life.

Prayer Support
The Unity approach to prayer is affirmative, based on positive prayers and affirmations that have universal, interfaith appeal. We stand firm in the knowing that in the midst of all life circumstances there is only One Presence, and One Power, Divine Love, God.

Prayer is one of the most important aspects of Unity. Prayer and meditation are the keys to bringing into manifestation all that we wish for our lives. There are many opportunities for prayer support at UCT. All prayer requests are confidential.

Meditation
Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, “thinking” mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. In Unity, meditation is a practice of remembering our connection in the web of the Universe.

Noon Meditation: Held Monday – Friday from 12:15-12:45 pm in the sanctuary.
