By practicing holding both suffering and joy, we encounter the best in ourselves and transform the worst. Suitable for new and experienced students. Andrew JiYu Weiss has studied mindfulness meditation for many years in the US, Europe, and Asia. In 1989 he met the Vietnamese Zen monk Thich Nhat Hanh, and in 1991, he was ordained a Brother in Thich Nhat Hanh's Order of Interbeing. Jessica Mollet, 832-8324

Sustainability: UCT Recycling Yogurt Containers
Yogurt containers are not recyclable in the Triangle area. Through the TerraCycle Yogurt Brigade Program we'll be collecting 6-ounce and 32-oz. yogurt containers in the UCT bookstore. The containers are reused as planting pots. Through the program a donation is made to a charity of our choice. A credit of $.02 is donated per 6 oz. yogurt container and $0.05 per 32 oz. yogurt container. We'll be splitting the money between two local groups, Triangle Land Conservancy and the NC Solar Center. Containers need to be CLEAN and DRY with lids removed. Only yogurt containers with a WIDE MOUTH such as Stonyfield Farm, Brown Cow, and Dannon, etc. are accepted. They cannot use Yoplait or Breyers yogurt
containers because of the different shapes and sizes. Place in special
boxes located by the drink machine or inside the bookstore.

Sustainability Tip
Many dishwashing detergents contain petroleum products, an unnecessary use of oil. A vegetable-based dish soap is a greener alternative widely available in natural food stores and even many supermarkets. If every American household replaced just one 28-oz. bottle of petroleum-based dishwashing liquid with a vegetable-based product, the savings would amount to 82,000 barrels of oil. ~ Page-A-Day Calendar
